Sometimes this version comes up on my iPod and I think it's just the pinnacle of musicianship and ensemble playing. You know it's going to be hot from the first notes that Jeff plays. it has three jams, each one getting more smoking. The last jam, Jeff nails the climax with a hook that had me laughing in amazement and brought me to tears of joy.

I was following both P&F and Kimock pretty closely around this time and don't remember these shows getting any praise after they happened. I'm sorry it's taken me 10 years to catch up! This is fantastic. Tight, fast, jazzy, focused, and definitely not the meandering lazy sound that could sometimes bog down Phil et al. Everything is kickin'. Sound is decent, a typically chatty Warfield fob, but perfectly acceptable. Kimock and Strickland are all over this. Wonderful stuff!

I love this line-up and setlist of this show. The sound is alright, wish it was better. I love the jazzy sound of these guys.

What a pleasant surprise this show is. Prior to downloading this gig, I hadn't heard a note of music from this 3 night run at the Warfield. Right out the gate, the band rips into one of my favorite jazz standards, Milestones. This is the jazziest edition of P & F I've heard so far, even surpassing the Robben Ford/Little Feat band. Kimock seems to get much more room to roam with these guys and treats the crowd to a couple of Zero faves. Special praise should be given to Bobby Strickland who adds some nice Branford-style Sax work to the mix. Other than some whoops & hollers from a few over zealous fans near the taping section, this recording is very well done. I can't wait to download the other 2 nights.
